In May 2023, PDTRA undertook a new collaboration with Sela and, through a long-term agreement for the maintenance of the archaeological site of Petra, supported the jobs of over 100 young community members from the Petra Region, especially the marginalized communities. This agreement aimed at alleviating unemployment and creating alternative job opportunities other than the tourism sector by training and employing community members in the fields of cultural heritage management. Between January and July 2024, more than 142 trainees have been trained in the fields of Cultural Resources Management (including 59 school dropouts and 41 graduates and young professionals), of which 104 obtained certificates.
The programs aimed at training multidisciplinary teams to equip Jordanian job seekers with soft and technical skills marketable in different sectors.
